.......just a blurb.......

I still feel funny calling myself a 'photographer'? I don't own a business or have clients. So what classifies me as a photographer? Because I take pictures?....almost everyone takes pictures!

What about an 'artist'? I take pictures. That's it? Sure I've sold some prints, but I still just feel funny calling myself a photog? I've only been in the game for a year now. I learn something new every time I shoot...but it's gotta take longer than a year to hold a label like that...right?

Maybe *Hobby Photographer* is more appropriate? I must just have too much time on my hands today

...anyways...thanks for all the support i get from everyone! the feedback is what inspires me to continue shooting.

you're a light-dark artisan, a shadow lens warrior, a sight selector. or let's hyper combine those spark words of pro and amateur: ama-pro, profesteur, pasteur (:D), aproteur. verb blend these labels and serve with a cherry on top. just go for your vision.

(it's, of course, so much easier for me to be supportive of other artists/writers. myself, my hubby tries to restrain me from setting my works aflame, or cooking barbeque from my latest attempt at a novel. all creative people feel unworthy - that's the imperative to keep pushing.)

I would define a 'photographer' as someone who exhibits more skill than the average person in the art/craft of taking photographs, usually professionally. I call myself an amatuer photographer, but since I've begun to make some (though very little ;) ) money with the craft, and have done some bigger jobs like magazine adds, I struggle with a new question; when does one refer to themselves as a 'pro'? I guess technically I am, but I just can't say it... So, my point is, if you're not sure, just say 'amatuer', it's safe :) Hmm, this looks like a good journal topic for myself...

Good outlook. When I do make a reference, I do say amateur.
You know what's funny about the whole thing...is that I could own my own studio, take customer shots every day, have terrible photos...and not know anything...but still call myself a 'pro'.

So I guess that makes me happy to be an amateur...at least I have an excuse :P

Ha, yeah, I guess it's better to be a good amateur than a lousy pro...

A photographer is someone who has fans of his or her work taken through photography so i would classify you a photographer. :D
